It iS Not EaSy.......

Monday, 22/6/09
Today we learn a new lesson,
under chapter working under pressure...
This chapter is quite interesting,
because in this chapter we will know the real life of a doctor
and how they adapt theirselves to live under pressure condition...
In this chapter also, I know that working as a doctor is very stressful work..
Everyone will hoping the best from the doctor...
This will give the doctor a lot of pressure
because he or she know that he is play with a doll but he is playing with human life ...
A very single mistic is not allowed in this profesion...
Because the mystic that we done could cause we lost a life of a patient..
Besides, the doctor also need to be a very cool and relax in order to do his job...
Because if a doctor easily panic...This will lead he to do more mistics..
Here, Iwant to share about some communication tips
when we are using the telephone in a foreign language:
+ If you don't understand, don't hesitate to ask.
A misunderstanding could cause a life
+If the person talk to quickly.
Immediately ask him/her to slow down.
+As the person is speaking repeat what is being said.
the person soon will realize if you not understanding.
+ Make the excuse that the line is bad and ask the person to speak a bit louder.
He/she will usually speak slower as well.
In order to ensure to get a good communication with other person..
A doctor also must be smart in his or her words choice..
He cannot use medical term which is hardly to be understand by the patients
when he giving explaination to them..
A doctor should use a simple word
that have same meaning with the medical term that
a person in medical field usually use..
At the end of the class today,
Miss Dila tell us that...
Our role-play will start by next week...
That mean we need to do our text this week
and sent to her to be check..
Oh no...
That mean ,
I need to do it as soon as possible..
HuH...

What can I do,
I need to go through it
because
I had choose to be in this way..hi2x
and
Insyaallah I will never regret..
Today Miss Dila was telling us about her experience
that for me was very pity but also very funny..:D
I cannot stop myself from laughing when heard about
her story..
Wow..
I cannot image how pain she feel when she
involved in such of accident..
Haha..
For me it was a very serious accident and might be very dangerous..
Today,
I was not fasting..
You know why..
because Miss Dila Had promise to give us
something..
Wah..
Miss Dila is very clever..
She got "anugerah dekan" for every semester..
and never missed it..
I really hope that I can be like her..

The most important things is

because nothing is imposibble..
and I hope I can do my best not medical field
but also in the religion in the
FUTURE..
Before I stop my writing for today..
I just want to take what Al-razi said about doctor:

THE DOCTORS AIM IS TO DO GOOD,EVEN TO OUR ENEMIES, SO MUCH MORE TO OUR FRIENDS, AND MY PROFESSION FORBIDS US TO DO HARM TO OUR KINDRED AS IT IS INSTITUTED FOR BENEFIT AND WELFARE OF THE HUMAN RACE AND GOD IMPOSED OF PHYSICIANS THE OATH NOT TO COMPOSE MORTIFEROUS REMEDIES”

Fuuuhhhh...

Assalamualikum......

« لِكُلِّ دَاءٍ دَوَاءٌ فَإِذَا أُصِيبَ دَوَاءُ الدَّاءِ بَرَأَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ »
Every sickness has medication, if you seek the medication for the sickness, Allah swt will cure it at His will.
(Hadith Muslim)
Today we learned about how to explain to patients about
their disease and what they need to do to ensure that
they can be healthy.
In this topic, I also learned that every disease has medication.
It is very important to us to take care of our diet
because from food it can lead to
serious diseases such as diabetis, obesity and others.
I also got some new information today,
even 100g of candy can provide
same amount of energy with 100g of potatoes but
a doctor should not allow his patient to subtitute
100 g of candy with 100g of potatoes
because
unrifined sugar contain protein,etc..
which are very important to our body..
Besides,
I also learn the most suitable diet
that should be take by a diabetic patient..
I also learned how to calculate calories in one of servings.
Miss Dila give us afew second to finish calculate
the calories in one of Mark,s mom servings
because she said that it was very simple..he2x
Actually the diet that had been suggested
by the nutritionis is not to trouble the patients
but
actually it is for their own benefits..
Actually a diabitec patient can subtitute their meal
with the following servings
because
they have same number of calories...
The examples of meal that they can be taken are
1 slice of bread
1/2 English muffin, bun, small bagel or pita bread
1/2 cup cooked cereal,pasta
1/3 cup boild rice
1/2 cup sweet potatoes
1/2 cup corn kernels..
There is no such thing as a special
diabetic patient.
They can eat the same type of food as
the rest of their family.
They just need to control how much they eat and when they eat.
The essential principle is that they follow
a balance diet and to do this they can refer to the food pyramid.
another useful way to balance the diet is the
"plate method"..
Miss Dila asked us to memories
these two ways of regulating a diet to our partner in our
own words and we ensure that our partner understood what we had
told to them..
Miss Dila asked two of us to come infront and present it..
The lucky person that need to do the play role were Awang and Hawa..
Huuhuu..
The play role were very funny
because
both of them are quite shy..
After the play role we enter
to a new lesson..
Miss Dila said that she need to
teached very fast because we need to finish
chapter 2 on this week..
huh...
In this lesson, I learned
about
many new medical words..
That I never heard before.
Before we end our class ,
Miss Dila give us a task that we need to present by
tomorrow..

My ASsigMent....

SLeeP ApNeA.....

This the title of my assigment for english..
Why I choose this topic?
Of course because I think this is a very interesting disease to be discover...hi2x
Now I would like to tell a little bit about SLeep ApNea.......

What Is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep...

Breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. They often occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour....

This results in poor sleep quality that makes you tired during the day. Sleep apnea is one of the leading causes of excessive daytime sleepiness....

MMm...

What will happen if sleep apnea is not being treated?
  • Increase the risk for high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, obesity, and diabetes
  • Increase the risk for or worsen heart failure
  • Make irregular heartbeats more likely
  • Increase the chance of having work-related or driving accidents

What Causes Sleep Apnea?

  • Your throat muscles and tongue relax more than normal.
  • Your tongue and tonsils are large compared to the opening into your windpipe.
  • You're overweight...
  • The shape of your head and neck..
  • The aging process...

What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Sleep Apnea?

  • snoring
  • Morning headaches
  • Memory or learning problems and not being able to concentrate
  • Feeling irritable, depressed, or having mood swings or personality changes
  • Urination at night
  • A dry throat when you wake up

How Is Sleep Apnea Diagnosed?

  • Medical and Family Histories
  • Physical Exam
  • Polysomnogram (poly-SOM-no-gram), or PSG

How Is Sleep Apnea Treated?

  • Lifestyle Changes
  • Mouthpiece
  • Breathing Devices
  • Surgery

As a conclusion.....

Often, people with sleep apnea don't know they have it. They're not aware that their breathing stops and starts many times while they're sleeping. Family members or bed partners usually are the first to notice signs of sleep apnea.Family members can do many things to help a loved one who has sleep apnea.

Just want to refreshing myself ...hi2x
Today we continue what we had learn yesterday...

Our tittle for lesson today is I'D LIKE TO EXAMINE YOU.....
In this lesson we are teach by miss dila how to make areques to patient..
We make use ap appropiate ways in order to requesting them..
The word that always used by a doctor in requesting a patient are
Would you, Could you and If you could...
After make a request to the patient we must explaint to them the reason of our request..
This is important in order to avoid misunderstanding between patient and doctor...

In this topic we learn how to present summaries using medical language...
We are given a task to be discuss in group..
My group get case 4 which is about Lung abcess puss...
After discussion, we need to present about what had we discuss just now...

After finish discussing...
We enter to anew lesson entittle What's the diagnosis...
In this lesson we need to do a play role again in order to tell the patient about his condition..
We do it in pair... and of cause my pair is HAWA..:)
It is a quite hard task because it no easy to convert a medical term to non medical term...
We need to convert it to ensure that the patients understand about their condition...

Before the class end, Miss Dila show us her nephew picture...
Her nephew is cute and naughty...hi2x

Hmm... I think that all 4 today I will continue my writing in other post ok...
Daaa..........

iT NOT sO eASy.....

MONDAY, 8 JUN 2009...

Today Monday and tomorrow is Tuesday...he2x

That mean both of the day I had class for English for pre_medical student with

Miss Dila...: )

YUP...Mmmm..

What happen today......

Of course no more presentation
because we had finish all the presentation last week....

Today I learn something new and it quite interesting

especially for a pre_medical student like me..hi2x

Today I learn how to take a medical history from the patient in the best
way...

We should avoid leading question because it will make patient feel
uncomfortable with us...

There are many step to take patient history which is:

  1. Introductory "small talk"
  2. Chief complaint
  3. History of present condition
  4. Past medical history
  5. Family history
  6. Medication
  7. Social history

Besides...

We are also learn how is the way to make small talk...

In small talk we should avoid asking something that related to the disease or treatment..

We can ask about something that the patient love

such as asking her or he about his interest, family or last vocation

Small talk is very important in order to make the patient feel comfortable with us...

So we must done very well in small talk...........

After that we had a role play in taking medical history...

We do it in pair...My partner is hawa...

We act like a doctor that trying to take patient medical history..

Now,

I know that taking history is not a easy task....

So we should do alot of practise in order to improve our comunication skill, so thatit will be more easier in the future...

INSYAALLAH..........

My PreSenTatiOn DaY.....

Waa...............
I am quite nervous today...
It has been a quite long time I not do presentation..
But I know nothing to be worried about because Miss Dila is not eating human..Is'nt?ha2x(just kidding)
There only four group that will presenting today which is Zahar and Amir group,Syafiq and Piji group,Mila and Aimi group and last but not least is my own group..he2x

The first group that do their presentation is Zahar and Amir group...
They present about Indonesion Culture but more focusing on Javanese culture...
They are telling us mostly about the dukun and jamu in javanese culture...
A very interesting and informative presentation....
From their presentation I know that some of the people in Indonesia still have a strong belief in shaman and until now they still went to see shaman and ask for their help...
Astaghfirullah...
So, we as a muslim should not follow what had they done because it can lead to syirik...
REMEMBER!!!!
ALLAH is the place for us to ask for help and other things...

After them, now is time for my group to do our presentation....HUh....
My group present about Chinese culture....(culture that had been present by Suaidi group)
Aina is presenting about the chinese culture while myself is presenting about doctor's role...
Nothing special in our presentation...(ceh...act like humble person...ha2x)
Because I am quite nervous so every things look quite clumsy...hi2x
But Aina look very cool and steady...he2x
I really hope that I can do better next time...:D
Insyaallah...AMIN...

The next group is Mi0la and Aimi group...
They present about Egypt culture...
A very interesting and exciting culture especially because most of us will go to Egypt to further our study....INSYAALLAH...
They tell about how mumies fication...
A very complicated process to be done...
All the internal organ of the corps need to be remove before it can be dry..
This is important to ensure that the corps will completely dry...

The last group that representing their task today is Shafiq and Piji group...
Roman culture that was Piji and Shafiq title for this task...
They are telling us about Roman culture and about their god....
Because time is very envy with them...
So, their presentation is not as long as Zahar and Amir group..ha2x

Before the class end, Miss Dila give us some comments about our presentation...
A part of her comments are about:
1) eye contact
2)body language
3)must be care full with pronouncation
4)power point must be in point and not in essay..
